Meet Our Team

When you are facing cancer treatment, you want to feel confident about your care.  The physician specialists and staff of Northeast Georgia Cancer Specialists, Inc. are committed to providing you with compassionate, professional clinical and administrative services.  We offer the latest cancer treatment technologies to patients in the Gainesville and Toccoa area.

Radiation Oncologists

Frank Lake, III, MD, has been medical director of radiation oncology at Northeast Georgia Medical Center since 1975.  He graduated from Emory University and Emory University Medical School with honors and completed his residency at Emory in Internal Medicine.  Following two years in the US Air Force, he completed residency at Emory University in Radiation Oncology.  Dr. Lake is board certified in Therapeutic Radiology.  He is co-chairman of the Cancer Committee at Northeast Georgia Medical Center and Medical Director of Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Jack T. Griffeth, MD, is board certified in Therapeutic Radiology and a Fellow in the American College of Radiation Oncology.  He graduated from Davidson College with a B.S. in Biology and earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia.  He completed two years of surgery residency at the Medical College of Georgia and his oncology training at the University of Washington.  Upon leaving Seattle, he served as medical director of the radiation oncology program at Gaston Memorial Hospital from 1989-1994. He has worked as a radiation oncologist at Northeast Georgia Medical Center where he served as Chief of Medical Staff in 2003.  Dr. Griffeth is a cancer survivor since 1992.  He has authored publications on x-ray and particle beam treatment of malignancies.
Geoffrey J. Weidner, MD, is board certified in therapeutic radiology.  He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Notre Dame and the University of Iowa College of Medicine.  He completed his residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics where he served as Chief Resident in Radiation Oncology and was awarded the Howard H. Wong Fellowship in Radiation Oncology from the American College of Radiation Oncology.  Upon completing his residency, Dr. Weidner was appointed as an attending physician in radiation oncology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics where he served as Chief of Genitourinary service.  Prior to practicing in Georgia, he worked as a radiation oncologist in Cooperstown, NY.

Your Billing Staff:

AMAC will handle all of the billing for your physician services provided in the radiation therapy department at Northeast Georgia Cancer Specialists.  AMAC will prepare and submit your insurance claims for you and represent you as your advocate with your insurance companies or other third party payers.  AMAC will administer your account via a team approach to ensure comprehensive and efficient handling of your insurance claims and related matters.
