About Us

Northeast Georgia Cancer Specialists, Inc., is a group of highly experienced, specialty board certified professionals, led by Dr. Frank Lake, Dr. Jack Griffeth, and Dr. Geoffrey Weidner, who provide patients with the latest and most advanced radiation therapy options including:

Radiation Therapy Clinical Trials providing access to progressive new therapies and the latest treatments available worldwide

Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy, (IMRT) an intense, controlled dose of radiation that allows treatment in sensitive areas

Image Guided Radiation Therapy, (IGRT) enabling physicians to pinpoint certain tumors with greater accuracy just prior to each treatment

Low Dose Rate Brachytherapy including prostate seed implants, radioactive implants that treat prostate cancer in a single treatment procedure

MammoSite Radiation Therapy System, a catheter system which reduces breast treatment time to one week compared to the standard breast treatment of over 6 weeks.

Stereotactic Radiosurgery: Highly precise and intense treatment given over a shorten treatment course.

Nutritionists to make certain that radiation oncology patients are receiving the nutrition they need to strengthen their bodies as well as Chaplain Services and Support Groups to care for the mind and spirit.

Our radiation oncology team works with The Cancer Center at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, which is the proud recipient of the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons 2006 Outstanding Achievement Award, given to only 31 facilities nationwide. The Cancer Center also received the 2007 American Society of Breast Surgeons Mammosite® Registry Award in recognition of continued participation and outstanding contribution to the research of breast cancer. We are active in weekly tumor conferences which is a multi-specialty conference review and discussion of presented cases. This includes AJC staging and review of NCCN treatment guidelines for each case. All patients are included in the Tumor Registry to facilitate accurate follow up and comparison to regional and national trends and outcomes.
